This year’s high school musical is The Old Man and the Old Moon. An epic tale of an old man who must abandon his duties of filling up the moon with liquid light to cross the seas in search of his missing wife. He hides his identity, lies, and winds up in a whirlwind of trouble.

ASD’s Sahifa calls it “an imaginative sea-faring epic, encompassing apocalyptic storms, civil wars, leviathans of the deep, and cantankerous ghosts, as well as the fiercest obstacle of all: change.”

The large cast clearly enjoyed themselves as they showed HS students a glimpse of their variety of dancing, musical and sound effect talents.                Photo by Omar A.

The old man ‘s important job is challenged by his obligation to his lost love. Audiences will enjoy the fable-like quality of the story as well as the acting talents of ASD’s HS student actors.      Photo by Omar A.

The show is directed by HS drama teacher Ms. Leah Bramley, with music direction from HS/MS music teacher Mr. Jim Kulpa and vocal coaching from music teacher Ms. Karma Wood.

The musical, which was featured at Thursday’s HS assembly, is suitable for the whole family. Tickets are available for 20 QAR at the Fine Arts Office or Main Reception.

Support the arts by buying a ticket for one of three show dates! ASD students should check posters around the school for show times. Parents can look to CAST social media posts or Sahifa.
