As the school year comes to a close, one thing guaranteed to happen each year comes upon us — people move.

As 32 students are set to leave ASD from grades 9 to 11, and while our seniors head off in pursuit of a happy future, it is important to remember the different situations our future alumni are in.

Additionally, some staff members, teachers, and parents will be leaving the ASD community this summer — for a variety of reasons. Executive Assistant Mrs. Kelly Bork told ASD Times of how she is moving to Denmark after working at the school for three years. When asked about whether moving was something she looked forward to, Mrs. Bork replied that it was both a happy and sad occasion. She is glad to be going home to her family, but at the same time, she will miss the school and the people she’s known here.

Many students will also be departing in the coming month; 83 students are planning to leave ASD on top of the seniors who will all move on next year. Some students feel cheerful, while others feel hurt, and many students will be heading off to new adventures. Students such as A. Rodriguez (’21) will be leaving after only a year here in Doha, returning to a very familiar location.

Some students are in the unfortunate situation of not knowing where they will be even as the last week of school is here. I. Brown (’21) explains how her family is still unsure of their future and gives her thoughts on the possibilities that lie ahead.

All these interesting thought, opinions and more can be seen in the documentary on the people that will be sorely missed here at ASD come August.

With that, we cannot forget our seniors who will all be heading off to their bright futures that lie ahead!
