The long-awaited annual ASD high school Powderpuff football took place April 26, and the outcome was … the usual.

Last year, the Senior team crushed the Juniors, and in fact, the Senior group almost always wins the game. This year was no different. Before the game G. Scotland, one of this year’s Senior team coaches and last year’s Junior coach, stated, “I am incredibly confident that we will thoroughly steamroll the Juniors this year.”

The Seniors beat the Juniors 48-22, scoring 5 points in the first 3 minutes of the game, and crushing Junior morale early on.

The game is a result of the remarkable hard work of the Varsity Club Council and all the student-coaches who teach their teams how to dance and play. They and the players worked week in and week out to ensure that the game was, as is tradition, a jaw-dropping spectacle of colossal proportions. The teams worked almost every weekday for two-plus weeks to perfect their skills and dances.

The major component of the game, of course, is the players. The team members greatly enjoyed the game night, as they had been practicing passionately and excitedly for the big game.

While there will always be no shortage of competition between Juniors and Seniors, the general mood of the game was more about having fun and enjoying the lively experience. Many of the players agreed with that notion, seeing as the game was fun to play and captivating for the audience to watch.
